Ølen Betong in Murmansk is preparing for production startup in a brand new hall, and is thereby ready to take on some of its largest project to date.
«All of
the steel construction for the walls, roof, lights and crane runways are
mounted, and the upper walls and roof will be ready in a couple of weeks. Two 36 ton overhead cranes will arrive this week and we expect them to be operating
by the end of the month. The last 15 ton crane will be mounted next month,”
says CEO of Ølen Betong in Murmansk, Atle Berge.
The construction of the 2250 square meter production
hall started this summer, and will be fully operating by the end of November.
With this new hall, Ølen Betong in Murmansk will have a significantly increased
production capacity on its own site, and will be equipped for large deliveries
to both ongoing and upcoming projects.
“Until now, much of our production for the Yamal
project has taken place outside, but now we will be able to take care of all
the production indoor and with good crane capacity in our own factory. This
hall will ensure our production for bigger contracts in the years to come, especially
related to oil and gas development projects. First up is the LNG project in
Yamal, Siberia,” says Berge.
Earlier this year, Ølen Betong was awarded its largest
contract to date. During the next three years we will deliver pile caps to the
development of the LNG plant on the Yamal peninsula in Siberia, for one of the
world’s largest gas reserves.
Today, Ølen Betong in Murmansk has 36 employees. Including
hired project personnel there are currently 100 employees working for the Murmansk department. The site includes approximately
100 acres with concrete batching plants, a large vehicle workshop, raw material
storage hangars, several office buildings, a smaller element production hall, an accommodation building, a VIP house and
now, a new 90 meter long production hall.
